I won’t bother anymore with questions in my askbox that have already been answered here.
How do I pronounce your name? Juhn? June?
Doesn’t matter, most people can’t even pronounce it lol…
What should I call you/Is it okay if I call you Duncan/Jun/other handles/your real name(s)?
I really don’t care which handle or name you call me
What school do you go to? What major are you currently in?
Not going to answer these because this all is in my blog’s description
What advice do you have for other artists?
Take crits from your artistic peers and professors well (also remember that it’s up to you to adhere to them or not they are suggestions after all), get out of your comfort zone, practice everyday, push yourself to do better than what YOU have done before and don’t compare yourself to others. Also, being in an artistic environment, be it a small private course, art school, or an online art forum it helps A LOT
Any advice to people who want to go to art school/have trouble picking a school? Any opinions on RISD’s illustration department?
Do a lot of research and think carefully before making your choice. Look at student works and alumni work. Go sign-up for a college campus tour. Know what kind of courses you will be taking. Check out student and professor blogs.
As for my opinion on RISD, I love it here. The illustration department produces very strong student works from what I have seen in senior shows and around campus. RISD’s illustration major is the 2nd biggest in the school so there’s broad range of styles, some people lean towards more storybook illustration, others toward a printmaking-esque style, even a few have a game art look- basically, everyone has a unique style and you’ll have many influences!
Definitely look into illustration alumni such as Jon Foster, Shepard Fairey, Chris Van Allsburg, Paolo Rivera, Sonny Liew, and Victo Ngai, (I’m sure many are familiar with Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dimartino already)
What program do you use to draw?
I use Paint tool SAI. I usually use the pencil tool with 0% minimum size, 100% density, 100% hardness to make a brush pen effect. Sometimes I use Photoshop but that’s for painted projects which I rarely do anymore.
What brush and what brush settings do you use for your pencil-like drawings?
This brush for SAI with the following settings (but I tinker around with them from time to time). Set the downloaded brush to the “brush texture”.

Favorite traditional media?
Ink, markers, pencils.
Why are your commissions closed?
School, they’ll open when I need extra cash
Will you draw me ______?/You need to draw _____.
I draw what I feel like drawing or if I’m being paid. Since commissions are closed right now for school, no, I won’t
Do you do art trades?
Only with friends for now
